Panama City Hotel Recs

Amarla– everything about this hotel screamed intimate and romantic, which was funny given that I stayed here with a friend. It’s a boutique hotel with small rooms, so if you like space, this may not be the hotel for you. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with a fresh cocktail with maracuya (passion fruit juice) in a handmade Panamanian clay cup and a warm hand towel. We didn’t get to enjoy the jacuzzi in the top floor, but it had views of all of Casco Viejo, and looked like a very fun place to lounge. The complimentary breakfast the next day was DELICIOUS, it included a choice of fresh squeezed juice, a choice of coffee (I got a latte) a generous platter of fresh tropical fruit, and your choice of your breakfast meal. I would have been perfectly content spending more time in the hotel, I heard the restaurant here is wonderful for dinner!

Hotel La Compania – this hotel was also incredible, and unique and much more spacious in room size, lobby and lounge areas and pool (which I also unfortunately didn’t get to enjoy). Fun fact, this hotel is a historic building, and a former convent! There are many parts of the hotel that represent it’s history, which is fun to walk around and explore. The bathroom here was the nicest bathroom I’ve ever been in, and had a cool setting where you could turn lights off or on so you could see into the room through it. The robes here were super soft and fluffy, reflective of the overall experience of the hotel. No complimentary breakfast here, but if you do decide to stay here, I’d recommend checking out Cafe Unido for breakfast (You can read more about my experience here)
