Nothing screams Valentine’s Day like chocolate, so I figured, why not add it to my breakfast oatmeal this Valentine’s Day? Chocolate in warm oats is such a treat, especially since the chocolate melts and makes oatmeal taste like warm cookie dough. Plus, when I have chocolate in the morning, it tends to satisfy my chocolate cravings for the rest of the day. Here’s how I made my Red Berry Oatmeal (with chocolate chips of course):
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup of oats
- 1/3 cup of water
- half a banana (chopped)
- 4 large strawberries (chopped), or 1/4 cup of your favorite red berries (cherries or raspberries)
- Your favorite toppings
Instructions:
- Place oats, water, banana and strawberries in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 2 minutes.
- Add your favorite toppings! I put a handful of raspberries, toasted chopped pecans, and a handful of chocolate chips (because who doesn’t love the combination of berry and chocolate)
- Enjoy!
Notes:
- If you are using frozen berries instead of fresh, microwave for 3 minutes
